Three Wishes and a Prayer
If I had three wishes
From a genie in a bottle
I wouldn't ask for riches
Or to win life’s lotto.
First, I’d wish for peace
Not the kind you borrow
But that deep quiet
That don’t shake with sorrow.
Next, I’d wish to live bold
In the center of my calling
Where God’s voice whispers
And I keep from falling.
Last, I’d bless my people
Every soul I ever kissed
With joy that don’t run dry
And prosperity that persists.
I’ve buried some love
And I’ve cried through nights
But even through grief
My spirit still writes.
These wishes ain’t magic
They’re stitched in prayer
From a woman who’s loved
And still dares to care.
