The Craving
All day long I have been dreaming about sweet things,
Peach soft kisses and berry rings.
Straw-red whispers on my tongue,
Cherry heat where hunger sung.
I crave it all, that sugar call.
The melt, the swirl, the rise, the fall.
A rich slice of cheesecake, velvet and bold,
Stories in the crust, butter and gold.
A funnel cake dusted with joy from the fair,
Powdered laughter dancing through air.
And oh, that pound cake, one pound of grace,
Sweetness slow like a turtle’s pace.
I’m not just hungry, I’m remembering,
Every bite of a roasted marshmallow, a soft surrendering.
Because sweetness is not just taste, it is peace.
It is the moment my craving meets release.
