Rewind

I wish time had a rewind button

Not for selfish reasons, but to fix it

To un-say the thing that broke a spirit

To snatch back that moment before a soul drifted

Maybe if I could, I'd freeze the air

Right for that boy turned ghost in a school stair

Or pause the glare that made a kid snap

Turn a bullied life into a lifelong track

Remorse?

Overrated like old headlines

We mourn in hashtags and candlelight shrines

Then what?

Another name on a cotton T

Just a face faded, worn like memory

Nah, I say let’s give the roses now

Before grief bends us, heavy and bowed

Let's speak love while the ears still hear

Hug tighter, hold longer, wipe every tear

To the ones who walked so we could rise

Let's lift their names to the open sky

Our ancestors ain’t shadows, they're fuel

And their wisdom ain’t gone, it's the rule

So live bold, speak truth, honor their fight

Be the flowers, the freedom, the light

Rewinding ain't real, but respect still is

So let's give it, live it, and teach our kids
