Pumpkin Patch Please

Halloween is not my vibe, nah not this year.

Too many ghosts I have met right here.

Freddy and Jason can keep their screens.

I don't need nightmares in my dreams.

Say my name in a mirror three times fast.

Child, I will pass, I have seen real pasts.

I do not chase thrills from a haunted scene.

Life has been scary enough, if you know what I mean.

Keep your costumes, cute and clever.

We play dress up every day forever.

Faces painted, hearts disguised.

Truth behind these daily lies.

What is so special about October's fright?

When folks wear masks in broad daylight?

Dracula, Frankenstein, you all can rest.

I'm chasing peace, not fear or stress.

Trick or treat does not taste the same.

Candy checked like it is part of the game.

Fentanyl laced, Lord, what a time.

Even sweetness has a warning sign.

The haunted houses might be cool.

But I'm grown now, I choose calm, not cruel.

Give me pumpkins, gold and round.

Hayrides rolling on holy ground.

Cider in hand, stars in sight.

No fake blood, just autumn light.

You keep the monsters and the gloom.

I will take peace beneath harvest's moon.

Yes, that will do, that is my match.

No tricks, no fear, just God's dispatch.

Let others scream, I will laugh instead.

Wrapped in warmth, not painted red.
